Casa Kula is a boutique hotel and food & beverage operation located at Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. References to "we," "us," or "our" refer to Casa Kula. Online reservations are managed through our authorized booking partner, Book Atitlan LLC, operating at bookatitlan.com, which maintains its own Privacy Policy governing payment and reservation data collected through that platform.

2. Information We Collect

We collect personal information only when you interact with us directly — for example, when you contact us via email, WhatsApp, or our website contact form. This may include your name, email address, phone number, and any details you share about your stay or inquiry.

If you make a reservation through bookatitlan.com, your payment and booking data is collected and managed by Book Atitlan LLC under their Privacy Policy. We receive only the reservation details necessary to prepare for your arrival.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to your inquiry or reservation request
  • Prepare for and fulfill your stay
  • Send pre-arrival and post-stay communications relevant to your booking
  • Comply with legal obligations under Guatemalan law

We do not use your information for marketing without your consent, and we do not sell or rent your personal information to any third party.

4. Newsletter and Free Guide

If you sign up for our newsletter or ask for our free Lake Atitlán Guide, we collect your email address. It is stored with Brevo, the email service we use to send our emails, and a backup copy is kept in our own records. We use it to send you the guide and occasional news from Casa Kula, and only if you have given your consent.

Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time. To have your email address removed or for any question, contact us at info@casakula.com.

5. Information Sharing

We share your personal information only in the following circumstances:

With Book Atitlan LLC, our authorized booking partner, to coordinate your reservation. With Brevo, only to send the emails you signed up for. With Guatemalan regulatory authorities if required by law. We do not share your information with third-party facilitators, advertisers, or any party unrelated to the fulfillment of your stay.

6. Data Retention

We retain your contact and reservation information for five (5) years from the date of your stay, or as required by Guatemalan tax and record-keeping regulations. After this period your information is securely deleted.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact us at info@casakula.com. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access or disclosure. Payment data is never collected or stored by Casa Kula directly — all payment processing is handled by Book Atitlan LLC via Stripe.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
